We want to recognize YOU, our amazing youth volunteers! Apply now for the 2006 Team Youth Awards.
The Team Youth Recognition program is designed to recognize the efforts of outstanding youth volunteer leaders. All chapter youth programs are eligible for the awards, including but not limited to Chain Reactions, Collegiate Councils, Youth Councils and individuals.
Team Youth is present in every chapter and every division. Whether as Youth on Board, chapter volunteer, WalkAmerica team walker, or public affairs committee member, youth are an integral part of the March of Dimes family.
Youth are on the front lines in the fight against prematurity, and they are constantly thinking of new ways to advance the mission of the March of Dimes. The Team Youth Recognition Program seeks to recognize those youth volunteers and their advisors who not only exemplify the mission of the March of Dimes, but also go above and beyond what is asked of a youth volunteer.
The program consists of the following:
- Individual Achievement Awards
- Chapter Youth Program Awards
- Tina Russo Youth Leadership Award
For award criteria and application instructions, see the 2006 Team Youth Awards Guide (pdf document). Applications are due June 5, 2006.

Hundreds of thousands of teens nationwide are participating in activities surrounding teen pregnancy, which was kicked off by the fifth annual National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy May 3, 2006. The National Day is organized to reach teens directly through an innovative, online quiz. Go online to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy's Web site to take a short, engaging, and informative quiz that will ask you to reflect on the best course of action in a number of tough and realistic sexual situations. The March of Dimes has agreed to help make sure that the 2006 National Day is a success.
Over 630,000 people participated in last year's National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. A survey of some of those who participated in 2005 indicates the Quiz is a success:
- 84% said the Quiz made them think about what they might do in such situations;
- 66% said the Quiz made the risks of sex and teen pregnancy seem more real to them; and
- 63% said they’d encourage others to take the Quiz.
So take the quiz now! Organized by the National Campaign, the National Day has widespread support, including National Day founding partners Teen People magazine and Teen People online, over 150 national organizations and media outlets who serve as official National Day partners, and financial support from The Candie's Foundation.
